(ubuntu 16.04):
If a notification pops-up (e.g. some program has been installed) on the left bottom,
and it is not cancelled (X) or opened (checkmark) soon, cairo-dock crashes (freezes).
Only solution is to hard-reset computer or,
if I happen to have a console open, to find process via
ps -u [username] | grep cairo-dock
and then
kill -9 [process number]
followed by restart via
cairo-dock&
This seems like a bug.
Incidentally, starting cairo-dock& works but I get these console messages:
warning : (/build/buildd/cairo-dock-3.4.1/src/implementations/cairo-dock-egl.c:gldi_register_egl_backend:232)
