Hello,
I think it can be nice to have more 'sweet' transitions (by fading or by using animations) between some actions, e.g. when modifying the position of the dock, the size of the icons, at startup, etc.
At startup, the effect when hiding/showing the dock can be used.
What do you think about that?
PS: about the effect when hiding/showing the dock, it can be nice to have the same 'Move down' effect when using the OpenGL backend than without it: a very simple 'Move down' effet, with a small acceleration but no with fading and cropping effect |

Why not, more is better than nothing. That depend if Fabounet had a lot of work with the current release. |

It's just that currently, when moving a dock from a side to another, there is a flash and the background move to the extremity and then to the centre. Same problem at startup.
It's just more "professional" |

At startup, we must be careful to not degrade the loading speed Yes but instead of directly drawn the dock on the desktop (with the flash), is it maybe possible to draw it out of the desktop or use the OpenGL to have some fading transitions?
when moving the dock, if you want to draw something a transition, you need a window that covers the whole screen, but then you will probably have another resize lag Yes, maybe but I think that when you launch/restart the gnome-panel, you've a 'sweet' transition (a move down/up effect I think). |
