Does the sound control plugin work only with alsamixer? I recently started using pulseaudio in order to play audio through my HDMI monitor (I couldn't get HDMI audio output to work using alsamixer), and as a result, the sound control plugin doesn't adjust the volume level for HDMI output. In the configuration options under alsa, the only device I can select is the on-board sound (no HDMI option). Any suggestions as to how I can get the volume control to adjust my HDMI audio volume?
Some info you may want:

Hello and thank you for your bug report,
PulseAudio is a "proxy' sort", "an interface" for AlsaMixer. It means that if you control Alsa or PulseAudio, it should also control the other one.
Note that if 'indicator-sound-service' daemon is running, it's possible that it will control only the master channel of PulseAudio. Can you just check if it's running? ps aux | grep "[i]ndicator-sound-service"
In the configuration options under alsa, the only device I can select is the on-board sound (no HDMI option) Is it the config panel of Cairo-Dock?
According the output messages produced by aplay, it seems it's the same card (card 0) but the device 3. From this config panel, you should be able to control a second channel, did you try with HDMI or "HDMI 0"?

ps aux | grep "[i]ndicator-sound-service"
The above command produces no output. I tried executing indicator-sound-service, but it said command not found. I tried "service indicator-sound-service start" but that resulted in "service not found"
Yes, in the configuration for the sound control in cairo-dock. I tried both HDMI and HDMI 0, but the volume slider still doesn't control HDMI audio volume. I did not try "HDMI 0", I will do that and see what happens.

OK, I got it working. I had to switch the soundcard to the blank option (previously, I had "Intel HDA" selected), and then either HDMI or "HDMI 0" for secondary channel. Thanks for your help! |
