I don't remember if 2.3 did this or not but I do know that with version 3.0 on xubuntu 11.04 installed using the ppa when I have vlc open watching a video if I select the fullscreen option under the video menu the cairo-dock does not show when I go to the top of the screen (I have the dock set to "keep the dock hidden". I have not run tests in a terminal to see if there are any messages but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue as well)? (note: if I go to another screen or VT because I use 4 of them, all show the dock when I go to the spot that is supposed to bring the dock up. It is only on the VT that has the vlc full screened that the dock does not come up when I go to the edge of the screen, even when I go to the top of the screen on the VT that has VLC fullscreen, if I quickly go to another screen I see that the dock was brought out it must be behind the VLC window). |

yep sure, when a window is fullscreen, the Window Manager (Compiz I guess) doesn't allow any other window to get in the way.
including docks and panels
I don't think there is an option for that in Compiz, this is quite a common behavior amongst Window Managers. |

Thank you, that makes sense. I am using just the xfdesktop no compiz. I should have realized that the window would always be on top. When I was trying something in virtualBox it was the same and same with the xfce panel. |
