I am happily using GLX-Dock under Kubuntu 11.10, but I noticed one feature of KDE integration that was missing: launch feedback. When I launch an application from KDE's panels or menu, I get feedback both in the taskbar and mouse cursor (bouncing icon) indicating the application has been launched. The feedback lasts until the application's window appears. Is there any way that launch feedback could be added to the KDE integration package?
Thank you for your time.

Hello and thank you for this idea!
But what's this feedback? Can you give us a screenshot/screencast?
Is it something to indicate that a application has been launched or is launching?
I think it can be interesting to have an animation until the application window appears (I guess it's possible to do that only with a launcher/plugin) |

the icon bounces until the window is really here (unlike the dock, where the icon is animated just to show that you clicked on it).
does it also work with non-KDE apps ? |

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Here is a video demonstration I made showing the difference between KDE launch feedback and launching an app with GLX-Dock:

The launch feedback isn't just for KDE apps, BTW, but for anything launched via the KDE panels, menus, or shortcuts. |

As a temporary workaround, I have discovered that I can trigger the KDE launch feedback by executing a .desktop file with "kioclient exec". For example, if I change the GLX-Dock launcher's command from firefox to kioclient exec /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop, I will then get the KDE launch feedback when launching Firefox from GLX-Dock. |
