For some month I have a problem with the dock or rather with a misbehaviour of it:
Clicking on a starter of an application that is already opened, the application will be minimized, that's exactly like I want it. But when I click on the starter of the minimized application again, nothing happens. To bring the application window back I have to click on an other icon fist, clicking afterwards on the minimized applications icon it will show up as I aspect it to do.
Did anyone else has that problem?
Greetings

Hello,
It's strange, I don't have this bug... Can you try with a few application like Firefox, the terminal, etc., a launcher and an application.
What's your distribution, its version (Ubuntu 10.04?) and your DE (Gnome, XFCE, etc.)
Because you can also change the behaviour in the taskbar module of the advanced mode of the config panel. |

Thank you for the quick response!
I have this bug on to machines, both with Gnome2 one with Ubuntu 10.11 the other one (unfortunately) with Ubuntu 11.04. The Problem uses to occur on both of them. I know the option in the config panel, but I find there just one that says something like »minimize the window clicking on its icon, when its already the active window « (Das Fenster minimieren, sobald das Symbol geklickt wird, wenn es bereits das aktive Fenster war). I have that option activated, is there any other option, that I didn’t find? |

Sorry, the guest was me... By the way, I am using the weekly PPA....
I found out more specifics of this behaviour. In order to get the minimized window back, it is enough to set the focus on any other window (by clicking), clicking than on the icon the window appears. So it seems that it does not work, only when the focus is still on the minimized window... |

I have tested it as you said and get the same behaviour. To avoid confusion let me repeat, how I can reproduce the bug with Firefox:
- Open Firefox clicking on its starter
- Minimize it, clicking it again
- Now, without clicking elsewhere before, click the Firefox' starter again.
The minimized Firefox does not show again but stays minimized, I can click it as much I want, until I set the focus on an other window or starter or elsewhere. After that clicking its starter it reappears as expected. Conclusion: The window does not show again as long as the focus stays on its starter (the grey border shows the focus).
Normally there might be no use to minimize and recall any Window without clicking elsewhere in between but sometimes you might minimize a window accidentally... |

I think it comes down to the focus stealing prevention of Compiz
you cna try this:
and then try to reproduce the problem
to come back to Compiz
if so, then install and launch ccsm to configure Compiz |

Dear fabounet you are right, with metayity it works as suspected. Back to Compiz I can reproduce the problem. Now is the question how I have to configure compiz, I have the ccsm installed but have no clue what I have to change... |

You can use the default theme but it's not the best solution |

I have the same problem with natty and cairo 2.3.0~1. The windows selector in the ubuntu panel works well though. To show the windows with Cairo I have to right click>Show.

thanks to report this bug to the Compiz team, as it seems to only occur with Compiz 0.9 |
