When I had first run Cairo Dock, it did this very well, but now there doesn't seem to be an option for this any more. What I'm looking for is the ability to have the dock hide (without collapsing) behind other windows. Then to bring up the dock, just put the mouse over the bottom portion of the dock and it will pop up over the windows. Is this option possible? Currently, I've tried all the existing options:

- Always on Top
- Prevent Windows from Overlapping the dock
- Keep the dock below windows
- Automatically hide the dock
- Automatically hide when a window is maximized
- Pop Up on shortcut

The feature I'm looking for is "Keep the dock below windows" but when you mouse over it, it does not come up on top of windows. It just stays behind all the windows, which of course, is useless.

Thanks

Hello,

I think you've to try the latest beta release (there is a Weekly ppa or you can compile the latest revision) because there are many changes about the visibility options

Hello!

I have the weekly (2.3.0~0rc2), no openGL and the same problem... whichever visibility option I choose I need to click on the bar to get it over a window.

(ubuntu Maverick + pekwm + pcmanfm desktop)

Hello,

Is it possible to change the "focus sensibility" in the config files of your WM?

well... pekwm is not really easy to configure, even though it does have a lot of settings. The problem is in the (very poor) documentation.
There is a mouse behaviour configuration file, which is the one I suppose I should study better... There are focus configurations there... But it is a horrible nightmare for me.

"Keep the dock below windows" and "Automatically hide the dock when it covers a window" are very similar options, I think you can use he 2nd one if the 1st one doesn't work.
can someone confirm the 1st one works on Compiz or Metacity ?

@ fabounet Yes, it works
But in fact, what's the difference?

in the first case the dock is behind the windows, not hidden, so you can see it if you have a non-maximized window in front of it.
