Currently Cairo-Dock will show thumbnails when apps are minimized, if requested. Unfortunately, if multiple copies of an application are open and hidden behind the focused window, and can be difficult to know which to switch to.
I think one of the two options should be added: "Always show thumbnail" or "Group Windows in subdock? [] -- If yes -- Show thumbnails in subdock?" |

Is there a place to file a bug report for this feature request, or just the forums? |

the reason why I didn't do that is that the dock would have to refresh the thumbnail periodically.
since you can get window preview with Compiz, I thought it doesn't worth the effort to do that.
moreover with small previews, it can be hard to distinguish between several windows of the same application (imagine you have 2 nautilus, how can you know which one is the one you want ?) |
