hi there!

I use Linux Mint 8 64bit and I have noticed that whenever I start a KDE application, cairo-dock crashes and needs to be restarted. Is that a bug or a feature?

Thanks,

StratosJL

a feature? hummm let me think....no probably not

What version of Cairo-Dock do you use? is this recent?

Are you using Gnome for you WM or KDE?

Well, like the subject says, the version is 2.1.4 beta1 from the weekly repos. I run Mint 8.0, fully updated. I have added the ubuntu-kde ppa (for the latest amarok).

I use Gnome as a WM and I noticed also that when I start a KDE app (amarok for example) from cairo-dock's Gmenu, cairo-dock crashes. When I start the app from the normal Mint menu (have placed it on top of the screen), it starts normally and cairo-dock does not crash...

Thanks for the respone, btw!!

Ah yes I missed the title

SO as test could you start CD from the terminal and launch a KDE application and then give the result of the printout?

also if you know how to use ddd the crash report would help.

OK, Murphy's law... it's happened again and now I can reproduce it....

start "cairo-dock -o" from terminal
start a kde app from gmenu, like amarok
start another, like krusader (nothing happens)
close krusader
start krusader again, then the dock crashes...

instead of amarok and krusader, it could be any kde app

here's the output from the terminal:

warning : (/build/buildd/cairo-dock-plug-ins-2.1.4-0beta1-20100424/GMenu/src/applet-util.c:cd_expand_field_codes:131)

warning : (/build/buildd/cairo-dock-2.1.4-0beta1-20100424/src/cairo-dock.c:_cairo_dock_intercept_signal:188)

(process:18437): WARNING (recursed) : Cairo-Dock has crashed (sig 11).

It will be restarted now (cairo-dock -o).

Feel free to report this bug on glx-dock.org to help improving the dock !

aborting...

is it only if you start it from GMenu ?
in other words, is the bug obviously located in GMenu ?

Yes, it is located in Gmenu, because if I start the apps from the normal Mint main menu, all is well.

could you please post here the content of the krusader.desktop file ?
located somewhere in /usr/share/...

krusader.desktop:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Krusader
Exec=krusader -caption "%c" %i %m
Icon=krusader_user.png
Terminal=false
Type=Application
DocPath=krusader/index.html
Categories=FileManager;Utility;Qt;KDE;
Comment=Twin-Panel File Manager
GenericName=File Manager
X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=desktop_krusader

If I start the application from a "personal launcher" within the dock, it works perfectly.
If I start it from the dock's Gmenu, it starts. Then I shut the app down and restart from Gmenu again, then the dock crashes....
