Hi there

Would it be possible to implement an assignable keyboard shortcut to Quick-Hide the dock?

I'm aware of the "Pop-up on shortcut" function, but this is not exactly what I'm looking for.
In this case the shortcut hides the dock and brings it back where the mouse pointer is in that precise moment.

What I mean is a simple shortcut which performs the same action as "right-clicking on the dock > Cairo-Dock > Quick-Hide", so that the dock gets restored in its original position.

Thanks

Yep, with DBus ! Let's see a short exemple :
Be sure that the Dbus plug-in is active in the config panel, and run the following command in a terminal :
$ dbus-send --session --dest=org.cairodock.CairoDock /org/cairodock/CairoDock org.cairodock.CairoDock.ShowDock boolean:false

Your dock is now hidden ! Now run the opposite command :
dbus-send --session --dest=org.cairodock.CairoDock /org/cairodock/CairoDock org.cairodock.CairoDock.ShowDock boolean:true

It can also be very useful when you have several windows in a single workspace (but none of them maximised) and you need to use as much of the screen space as possible.

The ideal solution would be to be able to combine all of the following settings at the same time (it is already possible to combine the first two):

1. "Automatically hide when a window is maximized"

2. "Automatically hide the dock when a window becomes full screen"

3. Shortcut to quick-hide the dock (if there isn't a maximised or full screen window)

in this case, what about keeping the dock under the windows ?

Not a bad idea. I'll give it a try.
Anyway, I still like the idea of a shortcut for quick-hiding the dock

yeah sure it is, I think you can do this with binding a shortcut to the Dbus command inside Compiz.

Really? Still there isn't a shortcut for that? They develop something that copies every single aspect of the OS X Dock but forgot the shortcut?

the fact is I've never ran a Mac ever, but I'm using CDE a lot, and it has a dock (and guess what, it's more than 20 years old )
