First of all I apologize cause i have to write in english on a french forum, then i'm sorry that my english sucks... -.-'
I use Archlinux with fluxbox as WM and xcompmgr to manage composite.
I'm absolutely sure that the latter works cause I obtain shadowing, fading and real trasparence in windows and menu.
My dock and my desklets have the right shadows, but that ugly black background too, as if compositor wasn't running.
I added the -n parameter to xcompmgr boot and this line to ~/.fluxbox/init
session.screen0.dock.alpha: 0

but nothing happens.
I found on this forum a user with the same problem, but at the end he didn't say if he resolved the issue or not.

Thanks however

fake transparency is a pour solution if he's running xcompmgr.
are you running the dock with some special option ?
it worked for me on Ubuntu, can't guess what the difference can be with Fluxbox.

Idon't want run it with fake transaprency if i already dedicate part of my resources to the the composition...
@fabounet
No, i'm simply running
cairo-dock
,
Enabling glitz in compilation coul help me with this problem?

I don't think so
personnally I've just run xcompmgr with no option and it worked, maybe yo should try without the option for docks.

all parameters, and the line "session.screen0.dock.alpha: 0"
maybe they mess with the dock, I don't know.

cairo-dock -f

I think there's a bug with xcompmgr+fluxbox+cairo-dock

I talk with a dev of fluxbox and he axplained to me the facts.
These has been his words

it's because fluxbox doesn't support 32 bit visuals
the devs know about it and just don't care

Bye all

I'm no guru but we had a similar problem on my daughter's computer.
I found this information.
Maybe it will help.
