I am in the process of translating Cairo-Dock to swedish and have hit some nags and have some suggestions. Here goes:

1. I found the word "pouet" in the po. I guess it's french but what does it mean? I assume it doesn't need to be translated
2. In several places, colrs are refered to as "(r,v,b,a)". Shouldn't that be "(r,g,b,a)" - red, green, blue, alpha ?
3. The terms desklets, applets and appli are used as if they are the same thing. Can someone elaboarate on their meaning and especially explain the difference between them?
4. The term "appli". I've never heard that before. Is it a short form of application or does it have separate meaning?

..and here's some suggestions:
5. Many of the english words in the po are misspelled. One way of fixing this without having to change the po is to create an en.po file with the correct spelling. The program should use this po by default. Only the strings that are actually incorrect needs to be translated.
6. You should put a cairo-dock.pot into SVN so translators easily can download the latest version (translators shouldn't have to know how to create it).

1 - Pouet isn't a french word but the name of a cairo-dock member .... but could you give us the exact sentence to confirm ?
2- r,v,b,a IS the fench translation of r,g,b,a
3- "Applet" is another word for "plug-in" ; "Desklet" is the name of this applet when it's detached from the dock to the desktop ; "Appli" means application(s) (= the programs launched by the dock )
4- see 3
5- I agree
6- no comment

1. in the po, it's on row 1775:
  1. : ../data/messages:867

msgid "pouet"
msgstr ""

2. well, it is used in the *english* string

3. as i suspected

One more question: where do I send the swedish po when it is translated or can I attach it here?

Thanks for the quick reply!

1) just forget it
2) you're right, I should correct it, anyway you can do with the error for the moment
3&4) nothing more
5) a good idea, but I wonder if intltool-update can't correct the .po files automatically after we correct the .pot
6) I thought I've added the .pot on the SVN some days ago
7) Thanks for the translation !

What is required to run the intltools scripts?

I don't think you need to run the scripts manually, just add your langage in the LINGUAS file, and compile the whole. It should create some .gmo or .mo files, that are binary version of your .po
you can send me all the .po in a tarball, and I'll put them on the SVN

Så, ska vi lägga till ett nyt språk för websiten ?
Are we going to add a new language for the web site ?

Tack så mycket för svensk versionen !

@Tofe: you speak Swedish and you didn't do it yourself......

I think P3 is translating the dock itself....for the site you need to talk to talk to necropotame

Actually even better.....Register yourself here and then add yourself to the list of translator here

and then translate in your language of choice here
