3D desklets for the Rhythmbox applet

Don't do that !
It's now included in Rhythmbox applet !!!

As the Rhythmbox applet in cairo-Dock is using "2D" pictures for the CD insert, they will by extension appear as "2D" on the desklet.

This is for that reason that a script was created to "transform" the insert and give them a "3D" effet which can then be used to give an effect like this one:

http://pix.nofrag.com/d/6/6/8897b96255e005a7092d5ca80105c.png
(note that this is the insert used by default with its beautiful Cairo-Dock logo...)

What is the script going to do ?

It will simply modify the insert stored by Rhythmbox in ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/covers and AFTER that will configure the applet from Cairo-Dock to refirect to the correct images (background, reflection, pause image, etc...). Of course EVERYTHING is saved before the modifications occurs, and the script will allow you to backtrack to its original configuration !

To be able to function the script will need the "imagemagick" package ( and will install it if needed the first time it is used).\

If you add or modif manually some insert, all you have to do is to reexecute the script and reselect the #D theme installed to transform the new insert in 3D.

Warning: as said before the transformed insert are located in ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/covers ... So if your own insert are not in that directory you will have to copy them into that directory. You need to use the following standard to name your insert:

Artist name - Album.jpg
( /!\ Do not forget the "Spaces" on each side of the central hyphen ( -)!

... Anyway let's get serious noe :

Installation :
      • Go to directory of you choice
      • Execute the following command :

wget http://theme_creator.glx-dock.org/desklet_3d_rhythmbox/desklet_3d_rhythmbox.sh && chmod u+x desklet_3d_rhythmbox.sh

How to use :
      • Go to the directory where you save the script and execute the command ./desklet_3d_rhythmbox.sh
      • The script will first verify if a new version exist (of the script itself... but also for the thmes <- During the first launch it will download all 3D themes and will put them in ~/.cairo-dock/desklet_3d_rhythmbox/ )
      • Once the update step is done, the one and only menu will appear :

(Note that the first line at the top indicate which 3D themes is installed : here is says "none" ti say that no 3D theme is configured yet!)
++Note: the script is only in french for the moment

      • The possible choice are :

1- Install (or update the new inserts) the cd_box_3d rendering :

http://pix.nofrag.com/d/6/6/8897b96255e005a7092d5ca80105c.png

2- Install (or update the new inserts) the super_jewel rendering :

3- Restore the inserts (and the config) to come back to the default 2D rendering (will put yo back as you were before installing the 3D effect!)

ATTENTION : During the installation of a 3D theme the transformation required can take some time depending on the amount of CDs that you have. A progress bar will show you how it is going

... Enjoy !
