Hello,

I tried to search the solution in the forums and in the internet but couldn't find what I am exactly trying to do.

I have following case: 2 monitor screens (different resolutions but I don't think it is important), Xubuntu 13.10, cairo dock running in xubuntu-desktop session (so xfce with some customizations). I would like to have two desktops (so that I could place one terminal window on one monitor and another window on the second monitor) and at the same time have the same cairo dock duplicated on both screens.

Is it possible? The only options I found for dock placement was: screen 0 or screen 1 or all screens (which puts half of the dock on one screen and the other half on the second screen - not very usable...).

Thanks,
Piotrek

No sure for that, but I think you can lauch 2 dock : one with the option screen 0 et the second with screen 1.

Yes, currently, the only solution is to launch the dock twice and to use two different settings.

To do that, you can:
  • Duplicate your settings
    cp -r ~/.config/cairo-dock ~/.config/cairo-dock-2
  • Launch a second dock:
    cairo-dock -d ~/.config/cairo-dock-2
  • Change the settings of your second dock in order to place it on the second screen
  • Add an entry in your XFCE settings to automatically launch the second dock at startup with the previous command (or you can also create a custom launcher (or a script to detect if you're using 2 screens at startup) if you don't always use your second monitor)
