Hello,

I'm proposing a few modifications for the default themes
  • Simple:
    • I think it's maybe better to add the Trash applet (personally I'm not using it but I think many people are using it)
    • It can be interesting to replace Switcher's desklet by Trash's desklet (I think newbies are not using many desktops but it's maybe interesting to remember them that they can use more than one desktop)
  • Panel:
    • Should we change the background/view?
  • Both:
    • I think we should disable 'icon effect' plugin: it's maybe "a bit too much" :)

I personnaly think the Trash is quite a minor applet, but I can't speak for others
I think the simple theme should be thought to complete an existing environment that doesn't already have a dock (Gnome/KDE/XFCE), so let's see what is not already present by default in most panels

Should we change the background/view

why ?

it's maybe "a bit too much"

I think I like it this way (with "Stars")

Its been a long time i have not seen the default theme.

but from what i remember i always remove the left applet not attached to the dock (Switcher)

A good applet to detach is the music applet i think it really shows off the capabilities of cairo-dock.

Background view could be refresh i do not like the rounded corner but i think this is more a personal taste.

The effect well i am ok with this

Yep, not easy... I was speaking with Tontof and he thinks that it's maybe better to replace the desklet by Trash's desklet: http://tontof.net/index.php?1376635330#12

Unity has a trash icon but in the dock. I think GNOME-Shell and KDE panel doesn't have one. XFCE Panel doesn't have a trash icon but there is an icon on the desktop I think.

Because maybe it's time to change

Yes, maybe with no rounded corners.

Yes but I think it's "too much". There is already an animation, no need to add an effect. Stars is a "light" effect but it adds to much "bling-bling"
(and it's maybe not so trendy )

but from what i remember i always remove the left applet not attached to the dock (Switcher)
I think it's better to place it on the dock but it's nice to also show that we can put applets in desklet mode

Yes but this applet needs to be "connected" to the right media player first
I don't know
(or maybe he should be automatically connected to the first media player which supports MPRIS2?)

The effect well i am ok with this
Do you mean that you're ok to remove it or to keep it?

it's nice to also show that we can put applets in desklet mode

what about the Clock applet ? is look nice in analogic mode

Do you mean that you're ok to remove it or to keep it?

it sounds like "keep it" to me
