Hi,
On a Debian Wheezy system, LXDE v4+nmu1,openbox v3.5.0-7, using aptitude as a package manager.
I installed stable cairo-dock v3.0.0 directly from repositories (aptitude install cairo-dock)
I had the "black box" issue so I went to configuration > advanced > system > composition...
Well, I didn't find any "composition" item, what so ever. What did I wrong ?
I'm removing the v3.0, trying out a newer version if it does the diff. |

By adding the repository deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/glxdock/repository/debian stable cairo-dock
aptitude install the version 3.0.0
However, the package "cairo-dock-plug-ins" won't install because of dependencies issues, packages from the old-stable Squeeze release
(libdb4.7, libdbusmenu-glib1, libdbusmenu-gtk1, libetpan13, libindicator0, libwebkit-1.0-1 (which depends also on libicu44 and libwebkit-1.0-common)
I get many errors during install process.
So I went for a manual installation where I run other issues |

Hello and thank you for this bug report!
Oh yes, I forgot to update these repos after the release of Debian Wheezy! Currently you can use the 'testing' repository ;).
I'll try to do that asap! |

Would the testing work ? Ok I can give it a try then.
About the script topic, the head breaker question : do I install the testing or from the BZR'script ? ^o^
(PS- By the way, I'm a both, english and french languages speaker. Not a programmer, but I can give some help around) |

Yes, Wheezy was Debian testing Indeed it was ! As I always run a stable + backport, I never mention the testing.
So there I go with the testing install !
And I check what I can do. But you almost need programmers. I'd like to learn some bash and some python, but it is faaaar from me ! |

But you almost need programmers. No, we need users, testers, translators, designers, webmasters, bloggers, etc, so you are very welcome! |

The repository has been updated! Can you confirm that everything is working well with the 'stable' repository? (version 3.2.1-1)
PS: Don't forget to switch from 'testing' to 'stable' version |

Removed testing, installed stable version (25.7MB)
I launched the opengl version, seems working. It grants me with a update notice.
About black box issue (still running lxde)
There's still no "composite" element in System, what so ever.
In testing, I found it, but not in System, but I have to install and check it again to be sure about its actual place.
However I confirm the stable version works. |

You should have this option: (right click on the dock / Cairo-Dock / Settings / (Advanced mode) / System module) Composition ===> should be closed
Emulate composition with fake transparency?
But note that it will emulate composition with fake transparency. It's maybe better to launch a compositing manager (xcompmgr, cairo-compmgr, etc.) before the dock: http://glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Recurrents%20problems&lang=en#3-A%20black%20background%20?
