Hi all,

These last days we've seen that IRC has been quite active for the enlish-speaking cairo-dock users. They regularly use an IRC forum on freenode, simply named cairo-dock.
This forum is currently quite visited (there's always 4-5 people in there, at least), but as there is no decision from our side it is still a "unofficial" forum.

Also there is, of course, the irc forum proposed by paradoxxx.zero, i.e. "cairo-dock" on irc.sorcery.net. On that one there is a useful bot which gives the news for svn and the forums, and I must say I like that bot

So... What to do ? having two irc channels for the same thing is just one more way to disappoint cairo-dock users... Would it be possible to have:
    1. cairo-dock in english, with the bot
    2. cairo-dock-fr in french, with the bot
    3. cairo-dock-dev (but I'm not sure this one would be so useful, at least for the moment)

As they do in Sweden, let's have a democratic choice

where is the voting button?

I personnally don't mind....also as for being official? what does it mean? I mean do you need to be official to help people out? The people on the english irc took an executive decision and decided to
help...good on them....we have to be able to do the same in french.

IRC is a great tool but time consumming.....

The forum is a great place and I really like the fact that english and fench is mixed......I would love to see the same with other language (coz_ bring in itialian!) ...... this is the way a fourm should be

I'd like to be on IRC with you guys but I have to code
and more basically, I share my PC with someone who already consider me like an über-geek
so I think that development should be done here for the moment, that means #cairo-dock-dev is not useful.

I'm pleased you like my bot (i spent many hours on it)...
I'm ok to open 3 new channels that wouldn't be a problem for me but as nobody come except ppmt and tofe it might be a little useless...
Alright i don't care they are opened ! Come french and english people !!

  1. cairo-dock-en in english, with the bot
  2. cairo-dock-fr in french, with the bot
  3. cairo-dock-dev for devs, with the bot

on irc.sorcery.net (a magical place to be ;))

NB : #cairo-dock is so now deprecated

NB2 : i'm looking for someone to host my bot because it is on a free shell and i don't really like that and i don't have any server at home.

Well, by "official" I only meant that we knew that it existed, and that it can eventually be a place where people can try to ask, or simply meet and have a talk. To make it short, it's only a little link somewhere in the wiki. The advantage being that there isn't 50 different #cairo-dock forums with 1 person in each one, but only one (or two) forums with more people in there to discuss with. It doesn't have to be us, as the only official support should be the forum (in order to regroup all the request/questions in one place), but at least the users can try it.

Still, it would certainly be better to have one multi-lingual forum than one forum per language. It's brings a lot of fun !

I agree with you Tofe for the multilingual.... but I have that thing about mixing people together rather than segregating them....

As for the IRC yes it is a good idea to put in on the Wiki....
