Hello all. I am building some Gentoo ebuilds for cairo-dock and have come across a couple of problems.
First the .desktop file does not get into /usr/share/applications. And Second the cairo-dock icon is not set
either.

For all you Gentoo users, these ebuilds will soon be in the desktop=effects overlay which can be added using
layman.

if you mean that there is no icon in the Gnome application menu...then you are right unless you use the SVN script from Mav.

Would you be able to add a section in the Wiki regarding Gentoo once you are done?

Thanks

Yes i can add it to the Wiki once i am done and packages tested. I am testing on KDE, so far so good with
the exceptions i mentioned above. I can work around the .desktop issue by issuing a copy command to the
package build for now. It would also help us much more if the plugins where available in a 'svn export'
package. Also for those looking for help. A few of us in the Compiz-Fusion support group have gotten together
and made an 'unofficial' irc channel at freeenode '#cairo-dock' to support the growing number of users. One of
our members has written to cairo-dock devs with no response yet. We think it would really help to have this be
an official irc channel and maybe get a dev channel '#cairo-dock-dev' started as well for us to communicate
with the devs and be able to support users better.

Fabounet.....you are ignoring request from english speaking people.....

If anything you have to help Jupiter....he is using KDE!

May be Mav could also create the right shortcut for the KDE menu.....

I will try to see if I can connect to that channel...

Oh, I didn't know Mav's compilation script did also generate a desktop file ! But then, if it's the case, why don't we integrate this step into the "make/make install" processus ? Slap me if I'm wrong, but also I believe that desktop files are XDG standards, and therefore are the same for Gnome, KDE or Xfce. So that would be quite easy, in fact.

I hope so !
Could you please tell me if you have now a shortcut to Cairo-dock SVN in your Xfce menu ?
If you're not using my script, please have a look at the code and copy the .desktop file into the /usr/share/applications folder.

It should be added as soon as Fabounet is getting a look at it

Ok, I just looked at it, and it worked quite well (I created the desktop file by hand just by copying the lines that are in your script). I don't have the nice little icon besides the menu text entry, but it's all my fault because I didn't put any icon in /usr/share/pixmaps.

Oh, and I didn't see the "xfce-integration" plugin in the list at the beginning of the script... It would be great to add it.

Sure it would be nice !
I'm quite busy right now, but the code is ready for integration.
If this fucking damn report is done until tonight, I will add it to the script
