Hello  I'm Italian, and I want (if I can) help you to translate cairo-dock in Italian language.
What do I need to do this translation?

Hello !
we would appreciate it for sure !
the way is simple : grab the SVN sources (maybe you already did it) with the Mav's script.
in each folder you have the sub-folders src/, data/, po/
in the po you have some .po files, they contains all the translations
currently the dock is translated in french and japanese, so you have fr.po and ja.po in each po/
just copy fr.po to it.po, open it, and replace all french translations with yours |

It's not the CVS package that you need ... but the SVN ! |

Well I found it.
But now I'm going to ~/trunk/cairo-dock/po/
I copy fr.po to it.po
I open it.po and I start to translate the text for example:

#: ../src/cairo-dock-menu.c:904 ../src/cairo-dock-menu.c:907
msgid "Check updates"
msgstr "Verifica aggiornamenti"
but I need to translate only msgstr or also msgid ?
After the translate I need to do something else? |

I would like to recommend to use a program such like KBabel or PoEdit for editing po-file, though.
if your 'it.po' file is in e.g. ~/translation
1. cd ~/translation
2. msgfmt -v -o it.mo it.po
then, 'it.mo' file will be generated in the directory.
3. sudo cp it.mo /usr/share/locale/it/LC_MESSAGES/cairo-dock.mo
after the above operations , start your cairo-dock.
you will find cairo-dock is localized into italian language. |

all you need to do is edit the LINGUAS file and add "it".
they install the package (you may need to do a autoreconf/configure to make the change effective), restart your dock, and it should be in italian ! |

ok, great !
but I think you should directly write into te it.po, otherwise you will have to copy all italian sentences into the msgstr in the end.
if you are not sure about a sentence, you can let it empty. |

In the patch section of berliOS I have uploaded the italian .po for cairo-dock: I hope you enjoy it! 
Si vous voluez je pex vous donner le fichier originale car je ne sais pas si cela compte ou moin.
Entre quelque jours ja vais préparer aussi le .po pour chaque applets (une dizaine sont dejà faites), mais est_ce que je peux savoir où le charger pour vous le rendre accéssibles?
