so i recently downloaded new updates for ubuntu 12.04 and after this, the icons in my Application Menu mysteriously disappeared. I have read a few posts and i have confirmed "menu's have icons" and "buttons have icons" are properly enabled in gconf-editor. any other reason they might have disappeared?

This is strange... Do you know which packages have been updated?
Maybe a problem with your theme? Do you have this bug after having restarted your session?

I forgot that with the 3.0.1 version, there is a new option in the configuration panel of the GMenu applet: Display icons in the menu?

(but this option should be enable by default after having restart the dock)

@fabounet: I've added CD_CONFIG_GET_BOOLEAN_WITH_DEFAULT ("Configuration", "has icons", TRUE); for this option

PS: Gnome+Cairo is the perfect desktop, I was almost convincing myself that Unity is OK, until I saw the integration work you guys did with Gnome, congratulations.

This option from GMenu's config panel is enabled (Display icons in the menu?) but you don't have any icons?

I've got the same problem - just upgraded to 0.1, and the icons are gone. I even deselected and re-selected the 'show icons' checkbox, still no icons. Also, in VMWare Player, Cairo locks up when I try to remove an item from the dock.

@fabounet: I think it's maybe better to remove this option. And I think we can force to have icons and not use this macro: _gtk_image_menu_item_set_image

Ok, I found what was wrong: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cairo-dock-team/cairo-dock-plug-ins/plug-ins/revision/2397
This fix will be included in the next stable version (3.0.2) but there is a workaround with this command launched from a terminal:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface menus-have-icons true

PS: @fabounet: I'm going to upload a new version with this patch on our ppa/repos (just to fix this regression)

oh, CAIRO_DOCK_FORCE_ICON_IN_MENUS was not exported
it should be written in gldi.pc
because here we have to tell 2 times if we want to force or not (not a big problem, but still)

and about the option "has icon", yes we can remove it now.
