OS = Ubuntu 10.4 X64
cairo-dock version stable 3.0
cairo-dock launched with option -o
Window Manager = compiz
Desktop Environment = Gnome

I have found possibly something missing from the 'Logout' plugin.

In the hand book it states 'Switch User' is an option, however I cannot determine how to configure it.

In the logout.conf middle click only has three valid options 0. 1. or 2. logout, restart or lock screen, also doesn't appear when selecting an action menu.

Would like to see this option work, then I could eliminate the Ubuntu user panel at the top of the screen.

Other than that Cairo Dock is great! Good work!

to have the list of users, you need a Dbus daemon (org.freedesktop.Accounts)
I'm not sure that Ubuntu 10.04 has it already.
it's certainely possible to get the list of users from /etc/password or /etc/groups as a fallback, but we didn't implement it (feel free to submit a patch ! )

I don't understand your answer. I am writing about missing option on a plugin and you are talking about a list of users and passwords. Please explain.

"Switch User" is not an option. If your system supports this feature, you should have something like that: http://download.tuxfamily.org/glxdock/communication/images/3.0/CD3.0-11.jpg

@fabounet : 2375 : users UID > 1000 are only true on some distro (even if it seem to become more common).

http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/16/html/Release_Notes/sect-Release_Notes-Changes_for_Sysadmin.html
Fedora 16 changes the UID and GID allocation policy: user accounts now start from value 1000 instead of the previous value 500. This policy is now globally set in /etc/login.defs variables GID_MIN and UID_MIN, refer to login.defs(5) for more details. Upgrades from earlier Fedora releases will keep their configuration, starting user accounts from 500.

some news
I've added another way to get the list of users
so now, you should be able to have in under Ubuntu 10.04
feel free to test (using our weekly PPA), and please report here if it works

@SQP: I didn't know about /etc/login.defs, but again this file may not be widely used, so the problem may still be entire.
let's suppose UID are >= 1000, we'll see when someone reports a problem about that
