It would seem very useful to me if rolling the mousewheel over the musicPlayer controller would change the sound (like in amarok tray), rather than playing previous/next song.

Sorry if it is already a feature, but I haven't find how to customize it. If it's already implemented please tell me how to do it (I am using Ubuntu 10.04)

Do you want to control the sound volume with musicplayer applet? If yes, there is a dedicated applet for that: alsamixer (sound control)

Indeed alsamixer does the work, I haven't considered it.
But alsamixer's only sound channel seems to be the master volume
so I can't assign it to the music player volume. Guess I have to look into alsa.

It would be nice though if there was a choice in musicPlayer applet to assign mouse wheel the control of the sound of the
music player application not needing a second applet.

thank you for quick response

you can use the channel you want, but it's an "alsa" channel (linked to the sound card), not a pulse-audio (linked to an app).
which means that usually the applet will control the sound globally.

I understand the need though, that could be nice as an option.
or alternatively, using pulseaudio on the sound applet, although I think I prefer the first idea.

anyone willing to code that ?

can't it be done with MPRIS to use the music player volume control ? (they all have one)

I think I'll wait until someone does it
I'm working on the taskbar right now.
