here is a small trick to display the debug output for a given applet only:
make a script cd.sh containing

cairo-dock -l debug --colors | sed -n "/$1\// {N;p;}"

then for instance:

cd.sh clock

we filter on the name of the applet's folder, here clock

Yes, to launch the dock with something like

cairo-dock -l debug=clock
cairo-dock -l debug --filter clock
