I noticed that when I load cairo-dock / glx-dock it automatically connects to 88.191.250.171

I am not sure how to disable this feature. I went to system settings in the cairo-dock configuration and I see options to force ipv4, use a proxy, etc.. But I do not see any option to disable this feature. I love cairo-dock but did not welcome this address. I am currently using

cairo-dock -v
2.3.0~2

Under Arch Linux. Gnome 3 fallback. Has anyone came across this? It is probably a simple fix; but i cannot figure it out.

It seems to be an arch Linux repository ... I'm sure it's not the dock that connects to it

Oups

Hello,

Yes you're right: we should add an option to not check if an update of a third-party applet (cairo-dock-plug-ins-extras) is available.
This address is our download server: downloads.tuxfamily.org (and it downloads this file: http://downloads.tuxfamily.org/glxdock/themes/third-party/2.3.0/list.conf)

So, is there a way to stop it? Do you know? Also, are you saying that it is a certain applet that is causing this? The applets that I am currently using are:

Clipboard History, Power Manager, shortcuts, Trash

Update: I just tried disabling them all and restarting. After that did not work I backed up my theme and loaded it. Neither one worked. Is there some other kind of way to stop this? Like a more advanced configuration file somewhere? So far the files I have looked at are

/usr/bin/cairo-dock-package-theme
/usr/bin/launch-cairo-dock-with-delay
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/cairo-dock.pc
/usr/share/applications/cairo-dock-cairo.desktop
/usr/share/applications/cairo-dock.desktop
/usr/share/cairo-dock/cairo-dock-simple.conf
/usr/share/cairo-dock/cairo-dock.conf
/usr/share/cairo-dock/themes/_default_/cairo-dock.conf

Some of these I knew I would not find anything useful. The others I simply looked for that ip address or a website name or anything to do with updates. I did not find anything of particular interest. I see a bunch of .h files. I do not know c. Is that where my answer is?

the dock should connect to the server only if a third-party applet is active; so if you're sure you don't have one, then it's probably a minor bug.
but I don't think we should prevent the update of the applets.

Mmh yes but maybe in some cases, the user doesn't want that an application downloads something... It's just an option like the -k option to lock the dock...

I tried disabling all applets and restarting and it still connects. Do you know where this configuration is?

This is exactly what I am saying. A lot of people may want this feature. But, I do not. I prefer to update manually. But what you said got me thinking. So I checked the man page again and found the -S option. That works. I can just point it to a null address like 0 or whatever. Thanks for the help. Definitely think this would be a nice feature some day. Marking thread as solved. Either way cairo-dock in my opinion is still the best dock ever. Thanks again.

héhé, nice trick, although you will have no themes then
ok well, that could be an option somewhere (maybe in the Dbus plug-in)

Right on. I look forward to a manual update option. It does not seem to effect the theme I am using though. I guess to grab new themes or updates I will just have to launch it regularly in the future. It is worth it for me though.
