The latest stable release is the *3.4.0* : How to install it here.
Note: We just switched from BZR to Git on Github! (only to host the code and your future pull requests)
After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10 and to version version 2.2.0-4 of Cairo-Dock the following problem appeared:
Cairo-Dock trigger was set to "Pop-up on shortcut", now this setting was off. When I set it back on, it didn't work. I tried a few other settings. e.g.. "Keep the dock hidden", and then I switched back to "Pop-up on shortcut". Now it seems to work, but the dock appears in all kinds of strange places on the screen, never at mouse pointer. It alternates between the two positions with each pressing of keyboard shortcut, usually away from mouse pointer.

thanks for the bug report.!
I'll check at home what can be wrong with this mode.

Thanks for the reply! Actually, it's not just in this mode. The dock doesn't appear properly in any mode. It shows after system startup, and I can't hide it until I launch an application. Then it disappears and I can't get it to show. After I mess with the settings it usually starts working (although the dock appears in wrong places), but after the next startup it's the same again.

I take that back. It seems to work fine now when set to 'keep the dock hidden'. The problems appear when I try to use the shortcut option. It seems to mess everything up.

indeed I can see the changes
so it's in the weekly.
is it the weekly version that you've tried ? there is another ppa for this version.

OK, it's working in the alpha. Thanks! I'm happy again I hope it will make to the stable release soon. For me the dock only really makes sense with the shortcut option, otherwise it keeps popping up when I don't want it to.

I am curently using cairo-dock v.2.2.1~0beta1 on Ubuntu Maverick and seem to have somewhat of a problem with the key shortcut feature. I am wondering if upon using the shortcut the dock is supposed to appear at the mouse cursor position. If not, have I done something wrong when I installed the application? (I have been using linux ubuntu for barely a week now). Thanks for your time
PS: If you've been using GNU/Linux Ubuntu for barely a week, why do you have installed a beta version of Cairo-Dock?
, I had a different problem with the stable version. Whenever I used the key shortcut to bring the dock on the desktop it used to apear half on the bottom side and half gone, and somewhat relativ to the mouse cursor position on the horizontal axis. I read that upgrading to latest build from the repository would fix that.
I have a question though: if the dbus command works, why isn't the cairo-dock pop up on shortcut-key feature already using this instead of whatever is not working properly now?

It poped up too fast when I got the mouse cursor close to the edge of the screen. Like when I was editing an image in gimp and wanted to select a tool from the left, the left secondary dock would apear before I got a chance to click the tool I wanted to use. So instead of my click ending up on the tool I needed, it would open a shortcut from the second dock that I didn't use. Anyway, I reverted back to "Hide the dock whenever it overlaps any windows", because I found the delay option in Advanced setup, that would have come in handy about 2 hours ago . Anyway, the reason why I wanted to use the key shortcut feature was so the docks would not respond to the cursor accidentaly, it was really starting to bug me. And I must add that I never touched the edge of the screen with the cursor, jut got about 10 pixel from the edge.
I was wondering if in a future release you could add next to "Hit the screen's border/ Hit where the dock is/Hit the screen's corner/Hit a zone" something like "Click the screen's border/ Click where the dock is/Click the screen's corner/Click a zone"
Thought I should tell you that after I set a 400ms delay for the docks apearing I noticed that they no longer overlap my windows. Finally got what I wanted If I'm on the desktop the docks apear and if I open a window they hide keep themselves hidden.
