How difficult would it be to implement something like 'sub-menu anchoring', where the displayed sub-menu's 'arrow' has its position updated as its parent icon moves?
Since it's possible to change the location of the parent icon of a visible sub-menu, does it make sense to reflect this change by moving (some part) of the sub-menu. In other words, could the 'arrow' on SimpleSlide be translated to keep up with the changing position of the parent icon? Could Parabolic be updated to have its icons 'sway' as their parent icon moves? |

partially for the Slide view, but no for parabolic
the reason is simple:
the (transparent) window of the sub-dock is placed by the Window-Manager to fit into the screen (so the dock places it above the icon, and then the WM moves it to prevent it from going out of the screen)
so the arrow can be moved but the sub-dock's window can't be centered on the icon if this one is too much on the sides |

Can you add this also to all the applet with an ask question menu. Maybe you could as well give the option to have only one submenu open at any time that would remove a lots of annoyance. As submenu being really far far away from their icon...
I am thinking about alsamixer and calendar applet i would like to see this behaviour fixed. Because it s a pain sometimes to click on this menu as it keeps moving.
A video to explain

(Message added on the task #100)
this is now done for the Slide view for sub-docks, and for the Tooltip and Curly view for dialogs. |
