Hi!
The question is pretty much in subject.
Is there a way to place a taskbar on separate main dock (or, at least, in sub-dock)?
Thank you soooo much!
Regards,
-P |

Hi, it can almost be done.
With the latest (almost released) 2.2, you can use multiple main docks.
Taskbar icons are always on the first, but you can move everything else the way you want to adjust to your needs.
You can use the wiki to see how to install it (bzr or weekly repo for ubuntu/debian) |

Hi!
Thanks for reply!
I am using multiple main Docks, as Gnome panel replacement primarily. This is really a great feature - makes desktop look much smooth and better (original Gnome panel to me was like a rock on top of desktop). But I am using first Dock for Launchers and don't really want to add anything else except pure Launchers.
That's why I was asking - I think it would be nice if there was an option to place tasks on different main Dock - so it would look pretty much like "Switch tasks" applet for Gnome panel.
I can follow your recommendation and make first Dock as a Panel replacement and put Launchers on second Dock, but that sounds a bit unlogical to me. But this is also an option, so thanks again for great software!
UPD: on the other hand that works quite fine. I think I'll stick with your option. Thanks!

that's the only way it work atm.
Sounds strange at first, but I guess that moving everything in other docks should be your best option and work the way you want.
Just consider the "Maindock" as the taskbar . Mine just have some launchers and menu, and all applets are on 2nd dock on same side of screen, but at opposite corner (look almost the same way as old style windows taskbar)
Renaming the docks is an option that I'd like to see too, and I think I'll try to do that soon, with some more options to enhance the "launchers" config panel.
Working on theme panel and text config problems atm |

SQP,
Thanks for tip! I finally sorted this out. In the end, I placed taskbar on MainDock_2 in the bottom of the screen, and the rest (including Launchers and Applets) on Main Dock on the top.
I use "Autohide" for bottom Deck with default View. I tried using "Rainbow" View, but GLXDock crashes randomly. Dunno why.
Hi-res is in gallery http://www.glx-dock.org/mc_element.php?a=3&e=302 |

is it because of this view ?
could you try to find a way to reproduce it ?
nice theme by the way, would you mind sharing it ? |

I'll try.
upd: I managed to reproduce it. 2.2.0-0rc1. In my theme - set Main Dock to Rainbow, set Cone Width to 180, set Line Colour to Opacity 0, save a config.
Info bubble says:
The module 'dock rendering' may have encountered a problem
It has been restored successfully, but if it happens again, please report it at http://glx-dock.org
I have a screenshot and dump. Please let me know how to submit it.

Thanks! Sure can do. I made a package, how do I upload it? |

use the drop2share applet to upload the package file to some file storage site (just drop the file on the applet icon), and paste the link here (works the same for screens and video) |

hi, fabounet!
was it somehow related to the case, when glx-dock crashes, when there's no task are running and "Taskbar" Dock is in Rainbow view? |
