First of all - my system:
Cairo-Dock 2.2.0-0beta4 (fetched via live ebuild yesterday)
Using Gentoo
OpenGL via proprietary Nvidia driver.
Using Metacity Window manager in Gnome

I am using the option "Reserve space for the dock" in Visibility preferences.
Before the update a maximized window would take right up to the dock itself.
Now, it is reserving too much. Example can be seen here:

it seems correct, but yo udon't have transparency (black background)
you should activate the compositing in Metacity.
delete ~/.config/cairo-dock/.cairo-dock and relaunch the dock, it will propose you to do that.

Crap .. the damn spam filter ..
As I tried to say, I don't need composition as it adds an unnecessary bloat.
The dock was working fine with "Emulate composition with fake transparency" option enabled,
until the update ...

check the visibility options
it's probably in "reserve space" mode, you should select another mode.

That same mode was working fine before.

Anyways, downgraded to 2.1.3-9 and it looks like this (same 'reserve space' mode), which is fine by me.

Another curious Gentoo user, wanting to ask where you found the live ebuild for Cairo-Dock 2.2.0-0beta4? Did you write it yourself or manually use bazaar?

Another curious Gentoo user, wanting to ask where you found the live ebuild for Cairo-Dock 2.2.0-0beta4? Did you write it yourself or manually use bazaar?

I already report the fact that the Cairo-Dock are not up to date and post a new ebuild but I don't know why (because I no longer use Gentoo?) my patches have never been accepted... And now, the current ebuild "-9999" doesn't work...
I already modify the ebuild for the 2.1.3 release (here and here) but maybe can you report the problem to Gentoo maintainers?

It's really easy to compile the latest revision from bzr... After having installed all dependences simply do that:
bzr checkout --lightweight lp:cairo-dock-core
bzr checkout --lightweight lp:cairo-dock-plug-ins
cd cairo-dock-core
mkdir build && cd build
cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
make -j $(grep -c ^processor /proc/cpuinfo) ## if you have an error, see if you have install all dependences and/or post a new thread on our forum
# make install ## on root mode
cd ../../cairo-dock-plug-ins/
mkdir build && cd build
cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
make -j $(grep -c ^processor /proc/cpuinfo)
# make install ## as root and if you had no errors

actually it was the same, just the dock's window is no more resized.
why not activating the composite in Metacity ?
