Hello!

I'm using latest beta of the CD, compiz, ubuntu 10.04, gnome de.

I'm experiencing few annoying bugs with CD:
1. Auto-hide feature doesn't work with GIMP's non-main windows (I mean Layers and Toolbox windows). I'm using "Hide the dock when it overlaps the current window" option for dock visibility.
http://db.tt/AhAmmZ
2. Sometimes sub-dock don't want to automatically hide itself when I move the mouse pointer outside the dock. This bug is really very annoying as I must move mouse pointer back to the sub-dock in order to trigger auto-hide feature. I'm sure for 100% that this happens with slide view sub-docks and not sure about other types. Not sure how to reproduce this issue but during daily usage it happens really often to me.

Thanks!

thanks for the bug report

1/ did you try with a dock placed on another side ? no problem with other windows ?

2/ indeed, that's annoying. I'll see if I can reproduce it at home.

I've just tested with dock at the bottom - same situation with GIMP non-main windows. Looks like all other everyday apps work well with CD auto-hide.

I confirm the 2, and same, can't get a clear way to reproduce it, even if I'm sure it's as always related to mouse over detection

I have some success in reproducing the issue with frozen sub-dock.
Take a look at video on following location: http://db.tt/vEfzjbY

I've noticed that sometimes the main dock freezes in the same way as the sub-docks.

when you have too many icons in the dock and the dock size is bigger than screen size (so you have dock parts out of screen ) ?

If you have the option to show only current desktop apps, open many apps that will have an icon, and switch between desktops.

ok I see, it's when the WM changes the current desktop
it's actually a bug in X, but I've made a workaround a few days ago (so I'm not sure if it's already in the weekly package)
it seems to work for me, but it would be nice if you could test it, maybe through the bzr version

Latest beta from the launchpad still suffers from this issue.

it's maybe fixed.
if you could try the current BZR version, it would be helpful (http://www.glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=From%20BZR&lang=en#2-Debian%20/%20Ubuntu)

any news on this point 2 ?
SQP I couldn't reproduce your video at home, is there anything special to do ?

Unfortunately, this issue is still appears in the latest development build from ppa.
It's quite easy to reproduce for me: open few windows that should be grouped in sub-dock (like Skype conversation windows) --> hover the sub-dock to open it --> click on the window icon from other virtual desktop and move mouse pointer outside the sub-dock immediately.

did you try to play with the delay to leave a sub-dock ?
too bad I've removed the debug outputs here, I'll add them again.

I've just played a bit with the delay to leave a sub-dock. And the verdict is following: I'm able to reproduce the issue unless the delay is 50 ms or less. With bigger values the issue persists. Looks like CD is able to auto-hide sub-dock only if hide process starts before virtual desktop change process ends.
