I'm using Cairo-Dock on an Ubuntu-Lucid x64 system. Whenever I have more than one window open, the icon representing that group turns into a stack of icons. If it only showed a stack of 2, the effect would be useful, but sometimes it tries to stack so many of the same icon together that you can't tell what it's supposed to be. I was able to recreate this to an extent (this image only has 6 terminal icons stacked together), but it can get much worse.
I would like to be able to turn off the icon stacking altogether as the indicator arrow is sufficient to tell me that there's more than one window open. I am unable to find any setting to turn this off...can you help?

Oh this is funny
Which version of Cairo-Dock do you use? I don't have this bug with the latest beta release (Weekly ppa)
But you can also only have the indicator (Advanced mode of the config panel > Indicator). Or in the Taskbar module, you can disable the option to group windows with the same class. |

it's quite a nice effect actually
please try with the 2.2 if you're not running it already |

I'm using v2.1.3 installed from the Ubuntu repository. I would prefer to stick with the apt-managed packages; is there a repository that I could connect to that has the 2.2 version?
I'm looking for the indicator-only option, but am still not able to find it. I went to Appearance->Indicators, and in the "Indicator of grouped windows" section, there are only two options: "Image file" and "Zoom the indicator with its icon". I've tried other controls in that section, but it still does the same thing. I have considered disabling the grouping, but I keep so many windows open that grouping is invaluable to me (moreso than having an attactive icon)

@ Fab: I think that this week I had this bug with Firefox... And there were two stacked icons corresponding to its 'Download' window into the subdock... |

maybe an opengl bug. No because I can't use Nvidia's proprietary drivers due to Xorg 1.9
I'm now able to reproduce it:
- Cairo-Dock without OpenGL on Metacity
- Open Firefox (in fullscreen mode?)
- Open some other windows of Firefox (Download windows, plug-ins, etc.).
$ xprop |grep CLASS
WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Extension", "Firefox"
$ xprop |grep CLASS
WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Download", "Firefox" If you doesn't still have the bug, close one of these windows and re-opened it, etc.
- You should have the bug
EDIT: I only have one window with Firefox class and this is what I have on Switcher applet:
