Linux Mint 6? Its Ubuntu corresponding release is Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10, right?
Because Intrepid is no longer maintained since April . So maybe the latest release of Python-Xlib has a bit changed from 2 years...

@matttbe: Intrepid, yes. I guess it did not changed a lot. If you consult the Python-Xlib files in Sourceforge [1] you can see that the project stopped in 2007 with the release 0.14 and only in 2009 a new version was released and it stopped so far. I'm using 0.14 and probably you using 0.15 version. Anyway, version 0.15 is release candidate yet, not the final 0.15.

great news !
I've finished coding the methods you might need :
BindShortkey and PopupDialog

they come with 2 signals :
on_shortkey and on_answer_dialog

See the wiki for how to use them. The PopupDialog methods looks like the AddMenuItems one : you give a list of attributes in a dicionnary.
this way you can have more complex dialogs, and it can be extended in the future without needing to break the API.
http://www.glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Control_your_dock_with_DBus&lang=en#30-PopupDialog
http://www.glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Control_your_dock_with_DBus&lang=en#34-BindShortkey

it deprecates the AskQuestion, AskText and AskValue methods, which I've removed from the wiki (but not from the sources for compatibility)

Eduardo could you please rename the applet to "Translator" ?
it's better if you do it, because it implies to rename the files too, and I'm afraid it would make conflicts in your branch.
Thanks

ah si on pourrait, c'est une très bonne idée
aussi la section est déjà assez grande, ça serait peut-être bien de la scinder en 2 (la partie spécifiquement pour les applets à part, et plus mise en avant sur le site)

I'm trying to rename the applet but do I need to create a new branch "/cairo-dock-plug-ins-extras/Translator", or is there a way to rename the "doCkranslator" branch to "Translator" ? If the new branch is the only way I'm not comfortable in doing so. Since I'm not experienced with Bazaar, I'm reading the documentation but did not figure out what is the best way to do that. Any suggestion ?

If you are using gnome i recommand using https://launchpad.net/groundcontrol
It s so easy that you do not need a wiki...

(solved on IRC => the name of the branch is just to help us to know what's the aim of the branch => it does not matter)

I did the binding with BindShortkey Dbus method. Another change was the inclusion of PopupDialog instead of ShowDialog for CD versions >= 2.2.0. Anyway, the "text-entry" widget, when in "multi-lines" mode, does not break lines of the inner text and, consequently, the result is shown as if it was not "multi-lines", a multi-line textbox with text filling only the first line. Do I need to turn on the "use-markup" and insert
<br />
manually to accomplish this ?

well I don't know
I've never tried yet (I thought I would use this widget for a Twitter applet)
don't you have already some <br> in the text you get from the site ?
or maybe some \n ?

I could add a parameter to cut the text at N characters, but it's probably better to have 1 translation per line.

I mean, visually it is not good to read the translation result since the number of columns in the text-entry is not big. Well, maybe it shall not be big, otherwise it would be very "obstrusive" dialog. Hmm, I guess I will let the translation result using ShowDialog since the result was already placed in the clipboard. Fab, is there a way to close the Pop-up when answering to the on_answer_dialog signal, in the callback method ?
