This theme aims to revolutionize the look of the Cairo-Dock for the integration with the theme of Humanity. Also attached the theme for the basket and the icons for the music player applet, the latter created by me on the basis of the icon\'s default music player in this original theme.

I hope u like and will add to the repository.

Thanks a lot !
I'll test it asap.

Edit : by the way, since you made a theme, maybe you have some remarks on the customization part ? some points to improve ?

fabounet I just install it on a clear ubuntu, and I got an issue with firefox icon, because I called firefox but it needs to be called firefox-3.5 for te right icon!

I just fix and there is an update on Gnome-Look!

at the end do u like it?

PS: I mean a new theme for Gauge, something like Gnome-Do System Monitor.

I didn't have time to test it yesterday sorry, I'll try to do it before the WE
for firefox, what I recommend to do is to place a firefox.png in the icons folder, because when firefox4 will be released, they will rename their icon to firefox-4.0.ng ( ), so the firefox-3.5.png will not be found any more. But the dock is able to detect that there is a version number in the filename, and can then look for an icon without the version number (here firefox.png)

Hi, I've tested you theme yesterady : great work
I have few remarks :
- the dustbin was missing (or I didn't find the files)
to include it in the package, you can make a folder "extras/dustbin/Humanity" (since you called it this way in the dustbin.conf), just next to icons, launchers and plug-ins folders.
- the dock stays in front of windows, is ot ok ?
- some basic applets are missing : Switcher and GMenu, I think that a remplacement of the Gnome panel should have these 2 ones, they are included in the default panel.

This is not related to the theme, but there is a problem with the HAL gauge (I have a warning in the terminal, although it seems to work well).

Fixed in New Release

It has a reserve space.

My theme don't aim to replace gnome-panel, so it don't need this 2 applet! I put the GMenu, for u and for that ppl that will replace Gnome panel, but I really hate swithcer applet, it' is horrible for me.

I'm repacking the theme with all icon that I use in icon folder and the fix that you recommended to me.

thanks a lot for the updates, the theme is near perfection
I'd like to add a desklet though (the reason is : many people still didin't notice that you can drag the cairo applets out of the dock), do you see an applet that could live as a desklet in your theme ? maybe the switcher (not in the dock) ? )

Not know ... the theme is close to perfection, because it is usable, integrated and does not confuse the average user. This craving for applets on the desktop is not shared by all, especially from me and I have no intension to collapse this beautiful theme just to see what your bar can do. Please find a point of agreement. And then I think that users should understand intuitively that the applets can be drag even in the desktop ... the problem is that a bar must be a bar for the rest there are screenlets =)

After all, I'm wondering why you continue to develop the icons like Oxygen style ... try to use the icon theme currently in use, I can not see that nasty CPU gauge with the icon of the terminal type Oxygen icon

I agree with you but can you simply say "I don't like it" (or it doesn't render well with the rest) instead of "it's horrible"?

Thanks

I'm wondering why you continue to develop the icons like Oxygen style

because I like it no seriously we don't make icons ourselves, at least until now, very few icons have been made by us, we essentially pick up some icons here and there. Truth is we lack of an info-graphist.

About the desklets, let me explain why Cairo-Dock is a bar and desktop widgets :
- first you can place your applets anywhere you want, and change it quickly.
- second and most important, the dock applets and the desktop widgets share the same code; why reinventing the wheel and code the same thing twice ? an applet should not depend on its container (dock or widget, it doesn't change the applet's functionnalities).
- and third, by integrating both in Cairo-Dock, they can also share the libs, the X events, the memory, etc.
which leads to a gain of RAM and CPU.

Anyway, this is your theme, so if you think a desklet would destroy its harmony, you don't need to add one of course
I'll try your latest release with the new gauge theme, and if you think it's complete, integrate it on the server so that people can easily use it

Edit : about the CPU and RAM buttons, they are 2 images in /usr/share/cairo-dock/plug-ins/System-monitor, so you can easily change them to find something better (and not dependant on a given theme). I'm opened to sugestions

I would like to do more, into your design team if possible. I'm not a programmer, but I delight in changing the code base, but above all I really want to collaborate on a project already quite advanced and stable as yours. Explain what to do and I will do = D
I think that use original icon is very important, I'm preparing a mockup that will explain which icons you can replace with originals, I believe are most of them.
Applets on the speech you're right, but I do not understand why I find it hard to use your applet, almost too many unnecessary effects, such as desklets most used by me is the ruler to measure dimensions quickly images or internet sites.
I will try to integrate the desktop switcher but no warrants nothing.

well I appreciate your help

which icons you can replace with originals

another point of view is the following :
considering that only GTK or Gnome icons can fit the current theme (and only under Gnome !),
considering that the GTK icons are anything but sexy,
and finally considering that you probably can't find a correct icon in a given icon set for more than half of the applets/categories/buttons,
we can guess that rather trying to use a given icon set, we should try to make our own icons.

the problem is, as you can see, the result lacks of coherence and is dependent on the taste of 1 people

+1

In fact there is a post here (in French but Icons not ) and a request on GnomeArt here

So you are welcome !! And a Humanity theme for this panel (like the ccsm) can be excellent

But i think you need to try those applets and make a nice theme for them to show the full power of this dock.. I do not know if you tried but dndtoshare is an amazing applet who can help you to upload images/videos/text in forum like this one with just a drag&drop how the average user will know that? if the theme only is made with few icons and with only the applets that uses the theme designer. I think it s easier to remove an applet from a theme than create an applet which match a theme.

My 2 cents

I don't know why but If I put F-Spot.svg in icons folder it don't work and the launcher still have generic icon, someone know what I can do?
I'm working on some applet theme so every one will be happy! xD
