I am using version 2.1.1-2 on Ubuntu 9.10.

When I place an applet on the desktop, the desklet position will always specified as negative number if it is placed passed the mid point of the screen resolution.

I would like to keep it to positive, i.e. measure from top left corner. Right now, I found that I can edit the applet.conf file to force it to use positive number.

It would be nice to be able to do this with drag and drop.

The real problem is, if the position is measured from the bottom, right corner and my screen resolution change (get bigger) then the applet will move way to the right because the same bottom right corner now change. This is a problem for laptop user who have a docking station with extra screen. The total screen resolution changed frequenlty.

actually the negative numbers assure that the desklets will always be placed correctly even if the screen size changes.
for instance if you set a desklet in the right bottom corner it will always stay there.
I don't see the problem.

I just report what ubuntu_user said on IRC yesterday
@ Fabounet : il a des problèmes lorsqu'il branche un autre écran: En le branchant, la résolution change et les desklets sont déplacés. Il voudrait bien que la position ne change pas lorsqu'il branche un nouvel écran (si xinerama détecte qqc)

The actual behaviour makes more sense to me. If there are problems after resolution changes, wouldn't it be a bug rather than a problem with this behaviour..?

I see, what you'd like is actually an option to place the desklet on a given screen, like with the dock ?
