I figured what was wrong-needed first to add new languages in gnome keyboard settings, and after that in console-setup (because of external keyboard). Still the keyboard indicator is a little buggy-doesn´t respond every time-needed to activete new language with right click, after that can i change languages with mouse clicking... When only working on desktop-won´t change languages at all...
Is this behaviour normal? |

Strange...
How do you install Cairo-Dock ? What's your distribution ? What have you got in System / Preferences / Keyboard / Layout tab ?
Thanks |

From repos (followed instructions from this site). Ubuntu 9.04 desktop edition. I think you can neglect this question now-as soon as i open something to write in (shortcuts menu, any app) keyboard indicator is working normal-only if there is only desktop shown, or all windows minimazed, it does not do anything (but it is also not necessary...).
Another question. Why can i not add new languages with this applet-i should activate first gnome indicator-add new language to be shown in cairo-plugin? |

Why can i not add new languages with this applet-i should activate first gnome indicator-add new language to be shown in cairo-plugin? Because it's "just" a switcher... It's not easy to have plug-ins running on all desktops environment... (Gnome, KDE, XFCE, etc., etc.) |

Sometimes it changes languages by clicking-but not showing it on icon (stays only the last language)-a little bit buggy, isn´t it...? |

the language cannot change when a window that accepts input is not focused.
even if the applet or the gnome-applet says it does, it can't be.
if you are on a window that accepts inputs, and switch the language (scroll on the icon, or select a language through the menu), doesn't it change the language correctly (and the display on the icon accordingly) ? |

You are right:
he language cannot change when a window that accepts input is not focused.
even if the applet or the gnome-applet says it does, it can't be.
if you are on a window that accepts inputs, and switch the language (scroll on the icon, or select a language through the menu), doesn't it change the language correctly (and the display on the icon accordingly) ? - everything seems to be just fine. It is working as it should be. I noticed though little bug/issue-but it doesn´t affect usability: i use Croatian-Latin and Serbian-Cyrilic keyboard a lot, but it displays always Serbian Latin (instead of Croatian-Latin)...as said, for me no issue at all, but i noticed it... everything works just fine.
Thanks |

ok strange, I've tried with 4 language and it always displayed the correct one.
hmm, maybe these 2 language have the same name ?
for instance I had France and France-Alternative, they both were indicated by "Fr".
could it be something like that ? |

In the fact, they are both almost the same languages-but they still figure as two different languages. In praxis there is no trouble at all. Just said it because gnome-indicator distuingish them...
ok strange, I've tried with 4 language and it always displayed the correct one.
Maybe try to add Croatian-and see what will be output in cairo´s plug in. |

gnome-indicator distuingish them
yes, it did it for me too with "Fr" and "Fr2"
so maybe I could do something like that too !
I'll try to do it |

Hello,
I use too keyboard layouts (German an Danish) but the Cairo-dock just want to show too (English and Danish or English and German, that depends on the last layout I used before I reboot). when I use the keyboard I can switch between all three layouts. I can not change the layout in the keyboard preferences, It just take the latest layout I used before I reboot and English.
I use Ubuntu 13.10 and installed the dock via software center.
Are the someone who can give me an advise?

Hello,
Are you using the Keyboard Indicator applet (icon which is animated when changing the layout) or the Indicator Generic plugin (icon with monochrome colours)? |
