I upload the file http://www.file-upload.net/download-1700865/ge.po.zip.html, but it isn't prepared.
I've got a problem by testing it. If I compile Cairo-Dock the language is set to English and I don't know how to change it.
I must not fix mistakes in the english text, right? |

To test, you have to add your language in all LINGUAS files |

I read the wiki, but I just add "ge" to the LINGUAS file in cairo-dock/po/, because it makes a huge effort to add it to all plugins.
But how I can change the language or does Cairo-Dock select automatically the system language? |

I think that it's "de" for German user
To see your modifications you have also to compile Cairo-Dock and set the language of your computer in German (see in System / Administration (for Gnome) if it's not the case ) |

Some questions about the general translation in German:
Ich hab als Anrede sie benutzt, also als Übersetzung für you; ist das so richtig?
Soll ich z.B. mehr oder weniger eingebürgerte Wörter wie Applet zu Minianwendung übersetzen; oder Icon zu Symbol? |

Ups, I thought you speak German. Google is a really bad translator. 
I mean something completely different, I will try to express it in English:
Should the text be rather polite or rather personal? I used rather polite phrases.
Some English words are naturalised in German, but it exists also a German word for it, but this sounds mostly frumpy. What do you think, which word should I use? |

the policy in the french translation is to avoid "frenglish", because it's ugly, and because most people who are not familiar with PC won't understand it.
sometimes you just can't avoid it, since english is the computer language.
Maybe you can see in the translations of some Gnome applications the kind of language that is used, and use the same level. |

Your first question was on whether to use 'sie' or 'du' as a translation for 'you', right?
Most of the texts are pretty informal in cairo-dock, so I reckon the 'Du' form would be most suitable (unless it's obviously a plural).
You might try looking at the French text and just using Du wherever 'tu' exists and sie/Sie for 'vous'. |

we use "vous" in the french translation, I think it's not so formal (I've never seen "tu" in a soft's translation) |

I don't remember how they do in other softwares in german. Do they use "Sie" or "du" ? In the french translation, as fabounet says, we use "vous", roughly corresponding to "Sie" in german.
@pickarooney: there is no "Du" (with an uppercase) in german, as far as I know Only "Sie".
@Ubuntuxer: I'll have a look at the translation, but just to look for the big issues, I'm not so gifted in german |

I will oriented towards the guideline on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGermanTranslators and I will use "Sie". Thank You for your tips. I hope, that I complete the main translation till weekend. But for the many plugins I need help, so I opened a Thread on the german ubuntu forum and asked for help. |

May I ask you something ?
Can you edit this web page : http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Cairo-Dock in order to change the Links section- add a English flag
 beside "Projektseite"
- remove "Entwicklerseite" (not used now)
- add a link to Cairo-Dock Wiki (with an English flag)
- When your translation will be added, you will also add a mention like "CD is now available in German" (in German of course )
