Ok, the "cairo-dock -o -i" worked here, but I still have a problem.
I created a startup launcher and everytime my system is started I get the configuration window of cairo written "Maintenance Mode".
On the other side, if I open cairo manually with the "cairo-dock -o -i" on terminal everything goes fine.
Help, please? What should I do to get rid of the annoying "Maintenance Mode" configuration window on startup?
Thank you! |

Hi. Thanks for the help! The delay thing worked!
Well, my notebook has a built-in Intel graphics card. With Ubuntu driver it won't work anyway but with "-c". I updated all my video drivers with the xorg-edgers drivers (https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers) and now everything works perfectly, even Google Earth. The only problem I was having was with cairo-dock.
So I found this post and Miau gave the solution, as least the only one that worked so far. I inserted this:
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
Option "FrameBufferCompression" "true"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
The only way it works here is with "-o -i". And it works perfectly. The other thing I noticed is that when I close cairo-dock after loading it with the "-o -i" it logs me off from Gnome... lol Everytime!
The "-o" alone doesn't work. I get the already reported stuff: no main bar (but with sub bars working, http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/5053/cairo1.jpg), scrambled icons (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/415/cairo2.jpg), or even nothing (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/2386/cairo3.jpg). Sometimes, very, very, very, very, very, very rare it works for about 5 seconds and stops. The strange thing is that sub bars always work, and with animations, as the detached applets. The other thing I noticed is that when I right-click an applet the bar just appear and keep working!
Well, sorry for writing that much. I hope the info can help you guys somehow.
Thanks again for the delay thing. It solved my problem. |

Great news !!!
If Nochka or Taiebot, you can test this method on your notebook / netbook.
We will update the wiki (or doing a patch if it works well) ! |

I told to Mav and TDey at the RMLL that it was ok for my eeepc701 with the last drivers and these options in the xorg.conf AND with the special eeepc kernel ... But for my eeepc701, after 2 or 3 minutes using the pc, it freezes .... every times ! |

Hi. I wrote the report above. I'm now registered here. If I can help with something just let me know
BTW, don't forget the "class=Cairo-dock & type=utility" on Compiz, as shown on the Wiki. |

Isn't this only necessary if you use widgets form the dock and the Compiz widget layer? |

The last two weeks i had the pleasure to experience a total lock up of X when i accessed cairo-dock. I tried many different version of mesa, intel-dri and the xorg-intel driver. At the moment i am using cairo-dock SVN build 1882 and cairo-dock-plugins svn build 1872 and the problem with Xorg crashing seems to have been gone away. Maybe it' one of the plug-ins that causes the crashing of my X Desktop(MagicSrq works)...does anyone know which plugin could be the cause to crash X? |

Just to say that with Karmic alpha 3 and the default driver (UXA is automatic) and kernel, xorg doesn't seem to crash anymore !
And excepting an issue with compiz (also present with nvidia cards), and graphical bugs with the Showdesktop, Dnd2Share and Stack applets, the dock is totaly usable in opengl ( <- I use Metacity + composite) |
