Bonjour,
i am starting to create a new theme for the weather applet and I thought , even though I am not a lover of animated icons, what would be needed to have the icons in the weather applet animated? Other than the actual animation images?

a good idea but how do you plan to make animated icons ? I don't know a format that allows to embed animation in icon (other than gif), and also some work should be done on the dock.

Thanks Le-Duc
Yes svg can go it if you are not aware all flash animations are vector animations , svg is of course vector.
The applications to create vector animations are on both linux and windows so the animation itself should not be difficult.
i suppose i was remembering on hand helds that there are weather applications that have animations like falling rain etc etc.
i was just curious what work would have to be done to do this with the weather applet and the dock!
It is just an idea I thoought it would be kind of nice to see the rain weather icon actually raining

How does the cairo penguin applet have animations?
i see a png that has the different frames in the one image.
how is this read and could this also be applied to the weather applet?

well it could be a way to embed an animation into a single image file.
The code for Cairo-Penguin could be used out of the box, then a timer on the sub-dock to make it redraw at ~10Hz.

If I'm andersand correctly Fabounet !

Le code pour cairo-pinguin peut etre utilisé en dehors de son aplet, then a timer on the sub-dock to make it redessine à ~ 10 image/seconde
The code for Cairo-Penguin could be used out of the box, bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla it redraw at ~10Hz.

(( bla bla = not anderstand ))

Bonjout,
OK!
i took one of the cairo penguin pics and replaced the images with one of the weather applets images after making the actual animation sequence. I replace the image in cairo penguin and started it up. Not quite right !!!
Still more work to do with just the animation itself but it sort of works
